Angelina Jolie Looks Awesome in ‘Maleficent’ (PHOTO)
The first official photo of Angelina Jolie as sorceress Maleficent in the film with the same name has been released, sparking massive excitement for a film that has been years in the making.
The film aims to tell “the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain,” by showing, “the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.”
In a recent interview with EW, Angie explained a little more about her portrayal of Maleficent in the film:
“I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is.”
If this photo is any indication, Jolie is perfectly suited for the role. Her look, especially her cartoonishly enhanced cheekbones, lends itself very well to her believability as the evil but beautiful fairy.
Jolie will be joined by Elle Fanning (who plays the young Sleeping Beauty), along with Sam Riley, Juno Temple, and Miranda Richardson.
The film was first announced in January 2010, and is slated to be released in 3D on March 14, 2014.
