Jim Carrey Walks Away from ‘Dumb and Dumber’ Sequel
Fans of the hilarious 1994 comedy are in for a surprise. Jim Carrey has reportedly walked away from Dumb and Dumber Two To, ditching the project two to the disappoint of loyal fans.
Talks for a sequel to the goldmine that is Harry and Lloyd have been going on for almost two decades. It was reported in April that Peter Farrelly (one of the two Farrelly Brothers) confirmed the much anticipated sequel. He also reassured fans that Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were also pegged to reprise their roles.
But pan to the present and we have a bit of a quandary. What’s the deal, you ask? When am I gonna get my fixin’ of slapstick comedy? Well, it seems that Jim Carrey is not happy with the Warner Bros./New Line studios, and the dispute isn’t over money or creative control as is usually the case.
Carrey has stepped away from the film because he feels there is “a lack of enthusiasm” from the studios. “I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it’s implied in the title,” said Carrey.

Well, we truly hope that Warner Bros./New Line get a bit more fired up for the project. The movie just wouldn’t be the same without Jim Carrey. In 2003, an unsanctioned prequel to the film called Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd hit theaters, but was a box office flop.
What do you think? Can Dumb and Dumber To stay afloat without Carey?
