Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Reviews & Trailer (WATCH)
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will take a bite out of the box office this weekend – but is it any good? So far, the R-rated action movie (which takes quite a few liberties with historical facts surrounding our 16th president) has earned a dismal 25% on Rotten Tomatoes (and just 23% from top critics).
From The Hollywood Reporter: “Genre enthusiasts will lap up the mixture of action and fantasy, while history buffs who don’t mind a bit of rewriting will dig into an alternative spin on the Civil War period…Abraham Lincoln credibly delivers the thrills and gore it promises, though it’s ultimately too lightweight and conventional to merit either cult or classic status.”
From Roger Ebert: “A more entertaining movie than I remotely expected.”
From TIME: “Some very gifted artisans have fooled themselves into thinking they were making art…Watching this is like flipping channels randomly between a Masterpiece Theatre drama and a splatter film on Cinemax.”
From Variety: “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a Civil War-era actioner of questionable taste and historical accuracy but surprisingly consistent entertainment value.”
And my favorite, from The Miami Herald: “Enormous in its scope and colossal in its stupidity.”
Basically: it’s dumb, but sometimes entertaining. Here’s the official Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter trailer so you can decide for yourself:
