Alex Trebek Suffers a Heart Attack

Alex Trebek’s life was in Jeopardy over the weekend when the beloved 71-year-old host experienced some cardiac distress. The television show host was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in L.A. on Saturday, after suffering a minor heart attack.

Thankfully, Alex is okay and on the mend after the frightening event. This is his second heart attack – his first (also minor) occurred in 2007. He returned to work shortly afterward.

Sony Pictures Television released a statement on Sunday, explaining that, “Trebek is in good spirits and is currently under observation and undergoing further testing. He is expected to fully recover and be back at Jeopardy! when production begins taping in July for the new season, the show’s 29th.”

In more upbeat news, Jeopardy! was awarded a Daytime Emmy Award for best game show while Trebek was in hospital. The host is expected to do two more seasons on the show, making it an even 30 years when he retires.
