Kate Middleton Has a $54,000 Clothing Budget (PHOTOS)

Recently, Kate Middleton has been under fire for recycling her looks–shamefully donning the same outfits more than once! (I’m being sarcastic, people, calm down.) Now we find out that Kate had a clothing budget of $54,000 for the first half of 2011-2012. So if I do my math correctly (bear with me), that’s around $108,000 a year.

Kate’s wares are paid by Prince William’s old man, Prince Charles. The couple are financially dependent on William’s pops for their living expenses and Kate’s Alexander McQueen dresses. We’ll learn more as the royal financial reports are released to the public later this week.

Now back to Kate’s wardrobe allowance. Is it just me, or does this seem like a small amount? A drop in the ocean that is the royal wealth. It’s obviously a chunk of change, and more money than I’d ever hope to spend on clothes, but I’m no Duchess.

We know Kate’s been frugal with her outfits and still looks fab. Other ladies in the political sphere spend way more on their outfits. Michelle Obama, who has Kate’s same love for Alexander McQueen, must spend more than $108,000 a year on her clothes. She’s making appearances all over the place. Sarah Palin spent Kate’s whole budget in her bid for Vice President; reportedly spending $150,000 in only three months.

What do you think? Is $54,000 in 6 months too much or way less than you’d imagine for Kate?

Same dress, different city.
