Ann Curry Officially Says Goodbye to Her Dream Job (VIDEO)

Ann Curry officially says goodbye to her dream job after this morning’s Today telecast.

It was difficult for Ann to hold back the tears as she said farewell to her viewers. ”I am so grateful especially to all of you who watch,” she said. “We often call ourselves a family but you are the real Today show family. I have loved you and I have wanted to give you the world and I still do.”

Ann remained choked up throughout the last minutes of Today, but she reassured fans that she won’t be leaving NBC. She will be given a new job with a “fancy new title.” Once Ann returns she will be heading up a seven-person investigative unit that will produce hard-hitting, international news.

“I have called the co-host job at the Today show my dream job,” said Ann, “and I would be lying if I said it was easy to leave that job.”

Ann has been sitting on the Today couch for the past 15 years, and had taken up the co-anchor chair with Matt Lauer last year after Meredith Vieira‘s personal leave.

She expressed her gratitude to the viewers and Today staff. “To those of you who saw me as a groundbreaker, I am sorry that could not carry the ball across the finish line – but, man, did I try.”

In an interview with USA Today on Wednesday, the Today alumni said that leaving her viewers will be the hardest thing for her. “I’m going to have to tell our viewers. That’s what makes me more emotional than anything. I don’t want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them.”

Goodbye, Ann, we’ll miss you too. We can’t wait to see what you have in store for yourself and for your fans in the years to come.
