Lana Del Rey Drops New Single ‘National Anthem’ – Uses JFK Imagery (VIDEO)
On first clicking on Lana Del Rey‘s National Anthem, I saw the length of the song… 7 minutes and 40 seconds… Another epicly long music video. I remember trying to watch one of Kanye’s lengthier tunes to no avail. That wasn’t successful, but I watched this video. Admittedly, I might have clicked through some parts a bit.
So what do I think about it? I’m kinda underwhelmed. Yes, she uses a lot of JFK imagery, and plays Jackie O while also taking on the role of Marilyn Monroe. A$AP Rocky takes on the role of John F. Kennedy. They frolic together with their children. It’s all very glamorous.
I know there’s a lot of hype surrounding Lana Del Rey, the model and singer-songwriter, but I’m still waiting for one of her tunes to really hit me or move me or make me feel something. So far, not yet, but I’ll keep listening and see if something changes. You gotta hand it to her though–aligning herself with the legendary family of Camelot. The girl knows how to get press.
Here’s the video below. If you have a longer attention span than myself, you’ll probably enjoy the video much more.
Me? I’m gonna go off and get Fiona Apple‘s newest LP: The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do (Deluxe Version). It’s been seven years, and I miss her.
Any opinions on the National Anthem video?
