The Bachelorette: Arie’s Mom Asks Emily About Her Failed Marriage With Brad Womack
Emily is now in Scottsdale, Arizona, to visit Arie. She arrives first at a race track where Arie is zipping by in circles. Emily thinks Arie looks “stupid hot” in his race car gear. He drives Emily around.
Arie is excited that she “embraces his career.” Well obviously. Ricki’s dad was a race car driver.
Afterwards, they go on a picnic. Arie immediately reveals that he is nervous because his parents are European and Emily is All-American, so apparently there will be some tension. His dad is laid back and charming, but his mother might be the least open-minded. After saying all that, he tells her not to be too nervous. Ummm, how can she not?
They head on over to the family’s house. Arie’s parents and two brothers are waiting for them. They chat on the couch before dinner, and the parents begin speaking in Dutch. Emily thinks it’s awkward. I agree.
Arie’s mom then pulls Emily away for a talk. The mother tells Emily she’s been watching her on television, specifically Brad Womack’s season. She asks what happened with that. Emily tells her that she did fall in love with Brad but never asked the questions she should have, the fundamental questions. Emily segues into a spiel about how funny and sweet Arie is. She asks the mom if Arie is able to balance his busy racing life with a domestic one.
Meanwhile, Arie talks to his dad, who comments that Emily is “very pretty and generally really nice.”
At the end of the day, Arie says he is “definitely going to marry Emily.”
