Katie Holmes Steps Out Sans Wedding Ring (VIDEO)
Katie Holmes steps out publicly on Monday after filing for divorce last week. The 33-year-old actress looked chic and radiant. One thing was missing: her wedding ring. That comes as no surprise. What person would continue to wear their wedding ring and band after a split?
Katie was headed to a taping of Project Runway where she will make an upcoming appearance. As can be expected, paparazzi were camped outside her NYC apartment, drooling to take the first pics of the newly separated Katie.
Is anyone else breathing a sigh of relief that her and Tom Cruise‘s marriage is over? I can’t lie. His behavior at the beginning of their courtship freaked me out. It was so over-the-top and high strung. It was if he was more in love with the idea of love rather than smitten with the brunette beauty.
Katie is seeking full custody of their daughter, Suri. Some have speculated that Katie wants to keep her daughter away from Scientology–the ‘religion’ that Cruise has been very adamant about–to the point of fanaticism. Also, a second thing that creeped me out about their relationship: Katie’s quick acceptance of Scientology. She was formerly a Catholic and let’s not get into the problems facing Catholicism (it would be too much to take on here), but she became “excited” about Scientology only months after she began dating Tom…
“You know, it’s really exciting,” the actress said of Scientology during a interview with W in 2005. “I just started auditing, and I’m taking some courses, and I really like it.” We’re not sure if she fully converted to Scientology. We wonder if their clashing values was a reason for their split.
It’s reportedly Tom Cruise’s 50th birthday today and so far the Cruise clan have remained tight lipped about the impending divorce. Cruise’s other two children with Nicole Kidman, Connor and Isabella haven’t said much, but recently 17-year-old Connor retweeted, “#LaFamilia Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever.”
