Ann Curry Replaced! Savannah Guthrie’s Official First Day, Ann Isn’t Mentioned (VIDEO)

Savannah Guthrie takes the official co-anchor spot next to Matt Lauer.

Although, Guthrie has been co-hosting with Lauer for the past week, Monday marks her first official day.

What’s missing from this picture? Any mention of Ann Curry. At all. The Today ran a montage to commemorate Guthrie’s new position, but everyone failed to mention the elephant in the room.

It seems that NBC is counting on viewers’ short attention spans, but how could anyone forget what Daily Mail has called a humiliating oust.

Some have called the montage “cringe-worthy” and the alloted time in welcoming Guthrie was lengthier than the few moments that Curry had in voicing her farewells.

“You’ve done a great job. We’re happiest because you bring a great attitude and what we like to call a weird sense of humor,” Lauer said to Guthrie this morning.

Guthrie responded with, “It’s always scary to start a new job, but I’m just looking forward to getting to know everybody a little bit better.”

Viewers have expressed their distaste at the way Ann Curry was let go after Today‘s first ratings scare from their competitors Good Morning America. There have also been rumors that Lauer felt there was no chemistry between himself and Curry.

“When you’re in the major leagues of our profession, you’ve got to continue to be at peak performance in order to stay there,” stated NBC News President Steve Capus.

“[Savannah Guthrie] is completely endearing, an ultimate team player,” added Capus.
