Awesome Vending Machine Lowers Drink Prices When it’s Hot Out

When it’s sweltering hot outside, there’s nothing more satisfying than a cold, refreshing beverage. When it’s… well, basically any time, there’s nothing more awesome than getting a sweet deal on something.

In Spain, there is now a set of 18 vending machines that combine the satisfaction of a cold beverage with our love of cheap stuff. A marketing firm called Momentum is behind this new fleet of vending machines that offer a simple but effective advantage over the average vending machine: drink prices are automatically lowered when it’s hot outside.

The promotion, which runs all summer long, is for Coca-Cola’s Limon&Nada. When the temperature is below 77 degrees, the drinks cost 2 Euros. When the temperature rises to between 77.8 and 84.2 degrees, the price is lowered to 1.4 Euros. Temperatures higher than 86 degrees cause the prices to drop to just 1 Euro per drink.

The price for the drinks is displayed on a screen on the front of the vending machine, so customers will always know what to expect.

These innovative machines can mostly be found in water parks and other public attractions throughout Spain. No word on whether a promotion like this will be hitting the states any time soon.
