Kate Upton Criticized By Pro-Anorexia Website

Pro-anorexia website SkinnyGossip has shocked Kate Upton fans with its negative assessment of the model’s body. According to The New York Daily News, the site called her a “cow,” saying of her recent bikini runway outfit: “Let’s not pretend this is fashion. She looks thick, vulgar, almost pornographic – and she is a solid 30 lbs too heavy for this outfit.”

The site also had some nasty thoughts about Kate’s recent Carl’s Jr commercial: “Huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition – she looks like a squishy brick. Is this what American women are ‘striving’ for now? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww!”

Many have responded – WAIT, THERE ARE PRO-ANOREXIA SITES? Yes – unfortunately, these websites (along with other kinds of sites that promote self-harm) have been around for a decade or more.. and that’s just one more reason why it’s so important to promote healthy images of women. Unfortunately, it’s easy for women and girls to find negative body discussions and turn to disordered eating.

The idea that Kate Upton is 30 pounds overweight is just shocking and ridiculous. As a model, she’s one of the thinnest women in the media and doesn’t need to lose a pound. As for her breasts – that’s what breasts are supposed to look like!

I do have some issues with the way Carl’s Jr uses thin women to promote their food (since eating their food will definitely NOT make you thin) – but I’d much rather have women eat a couple burgers than starve themselves.

Luckily, Kate has not dignified the posting with a response on her Twitter account. I hope women realize that this website is NOT correct!
