Usher’s Family Friend Under Investigation for Jet Ski Accident
Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend of Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster, is under investigation for the jet ski accident that left the singer’s stepson brain dead.
11-year-old Kyle Glover was sitting in an inner tube with a 15-year-old girl Friday afternoon, when the two were struck by a jet ski driven by Mr. Hubbard.
Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said that two of his rangers witnessed the tragic event.
“Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them,” he explained.
Neither alcohol nor mechanical failure seem to be factors in the accident. Sadly, Glover was declared brain dead yesterday after showing no brain activity since the accident.
Despite their messy divorce, the incident seems to have brought Usher and Foster together, with the star chartering a plane to take his ex-wife to be with her son.
As for charges being laid against Hubbard, it seems that officials are waiting to see how the boy is doing before making any legal decisions.
“It depends on the male’s condition. With certain things we have to wait and see,” said Sgt. Burgamy. “Once we gather all our info, we’ll talk to the District Attorney and discuss it with them to decide what action to take.”
