Tom Cruise’s Attorney Sets the Record Straight: Tom Did Not Abandon Suri

The Cruise family during happier times (2011)

Tom Cruise‘s attorney is fuming over tabloid allegations that his megawatt star client “abandoned” Suri Cruise.

Bert Fields calls these allegations “grotesquely false claims” and is peeved over the tabloid lies.

“That, as anyone knows who saw their photos together yesterday and today, is a disgusting, vicious lie,” said Fields. “Until this week, Tom was shooting a film on location [in Iceland], but he spoke to Suri every day. He’s with Suri right now; and he was with her the day before [the magazine] trumpeted their cruelly false accusation. Tom dearly loves Suri, and the last thing he would ever do is abandon her.”

As is apparent from the photos from this week, Tom and Suri have been enjoying some much needed time together. Although Katie Holmes has primary custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Cruise was awarded “generous visitation rights” and the settlement will allow for a “meaningful relaitonship” between dad and daughter.

Holmes’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe has praised Cruise’s attorneys ”for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”

A source reveals that the couple’s prenuptial agreement has allowed their assets to be distributed fairly. It’s also rumored that the settlement guarantees that nothing will be done to “alienate” Suri from her mother, giving Holmes the lead role in choosing Suri’s education and future nannies.
