‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Shooter Identified

James Eagan Holmes, 24, has been identified as the shooter who opened fire at a packed midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.

Twelve people were killed in the shooting, which also left up to 50 people wounded. According to CBS News, Holmes doesn’t appear to have a criminal record in Aurora, Colorado or in California’s San Diego county, where he previously resided.

Holmes is reportedly a medical student at the University of Colorado, but withdrew from classes last month. No word yet on Holmes’ motive.

According to Perez Hilton, the shooters studio apartment appears to be booby trapped. Holmes resides on the third floor of a North Aurora complex. FBI Investigator Jim Yacone says the suspect’s home has various bombs and explosive materials. Bomb technicans are working to disarm these materials before searching the home.

Holmes was apprehended at the movie theater parking lot and did not resist arrest.
