Bachelorette Finale: Emily Maynard Breaks Arie’s Heart, Saddest Moment in Bachelorette History
Emily says: “My heart is broken. It’s supposed to be the happiest time of my life because I feel like I’ve found my guy, but I have to say bye to Arie.”
Meanwhile, Arie is very excited about seeing Emily. He is sure that he’ll be engaged tomorrow. He’s basically prancing around in the woods and makes a love potion for them with flowers and fragrance.
Emily comes out of her SUV looking defeated. She doesn’t want to hurt Arie but has no other choice.
When Emily shows up, Arie perks up and shows her his love potion. Emily asks to talk to him and begins weeping hysterically.
Arie is still clueless and consoles her.
“I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to say,” cries Emily. “You know how I felt about you from the beginning… but I don’t know anymore.”
Arie now what’s happening. “I thought things were going well.”
Emily assures him that her parents loved him, and that she always thought it was going to be her and him.
THIS IS SO HARD TO WATCH.
“I don’t want you to think it was anything you did or didn’t do, you really are everything,” continues Emily in between her tears.
Arie is super calm about it. He’s clearly upset, but doesn’t exhibit it via tears (yet). He gives her a hug and walks away. Emily chases him.
“I don’t think you’re gonna get the good-bye that you want… Thank you for sparing me the embarrassment tomorrow,” he says. He asks for a hug.
She walks him to his car, and it’s very awkward and HORRIFICALLY SAD.
He gives her a kiss on the cheek and drives off, leaving Emily behind head down and tears aflowin’.
“I’m confused. I feel stupid, I feel naiive that I had that dream for us. I just feel like I give so much and I’m so open and I’m a loving person, and I feel like I deserve that back. I guess I just misjudged.” Finally, the tears come. “I was so sure. She’s always made me feel so secure in us. I still believe she’s the love of my life.”
