Celebrities Read Mean Tweets About Themselves (VIDEO)
Sometimes, it can be easy to forget that the celebrities we snark about are real people. While I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with criticism (even harsh criticism), it can be difficult to tell where to draw the line.
Is writing a hateful Tweet about a celebrity different than writing one about your neighbor? Should we be held accountable for the things we write on the Internet, and would doing so force people to think harder before making a rude comment about a celebrity?
Jimmy Kimmel takes a humorous approach to the topic in a segment on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. The segment features celebrities like James Van Der Beek, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Kristen Stewart, and Matt LeBlanc reading out some of the nastiest tweets that have been made about them. While they don’t seem terribly amused, they’re mostly able to take it in stride.
Except James Van Der Beek. He’s pretty sad about it.
“Dear God give us 2pac back and we’ll give you Justin Bieber,” reads Justin Bieber. It’s a little sad, but also pretty funny.
