P.S. Here’s an emotional moment between father and son during the 1992 Barcelona games. In the 1988 Seoul games, UK runner Derek Redmond was forced to withdraw from 400 meters dash due to a torn Achilles tendon. When the Barcelona games came around in ’92, he was raring for a medal. Sadly, in the semifinal heat, Redmond heard a pop in his hamstring. He was in undeniable pain, but he wanted to finish the race. He got up and hobbled down the track, and who should come running out of the stands but his father Jim. The two men make it down the final stretch. Jim stands back and let’s his son cross the finish line.
Olympics, here we come!
