Paparazzo Who Chased Justin Bieber Charged

As we previously reported, earlier this month, Justin Bieber was pulled over and received a ticket for going 80 miles per hour on the 101 Freeway. When speaking to the police while he was pulled over, Justin explained that he was being chased by a pack of paparazzi who were driving dangerously, including on the shoulder, and following him.

It seems that Justin’s story checked out: he really was being chased by paparazzi, and while that fact won’t get him out of his speeding ticket, it does mean that at least one of the paps will be facing criminal charges.

Today, paparazzo Paul Raef was charged with reckless driving, failing to obey the lawful order of a peace officer, two counts of following another vehicle too closely and reckless driving with the intent to capture pictures for commercial gain.

The latter is a new law aimed at cracking down on paparazzi who create dangerous situations, such as by driving recklessly or blocking sidewalks, in order to get the winning shot.

Raef is facing fines of up to $3,500 and up to a year in jail for his crimes.

What do you think about the special law intended specifically to keep paparazzi from putting others in danger? Let us know in the comments.
