Madonna Booed in Paris
Madonna has been drawing a lot of controversy lately for her on-stage antics, and now she’s angered fans again – this time, for leaving the stage.
Madge played a club show in Paris last night, and what started as a promising show ended in boos and jeers when Madonna left the stage after just 45 minutes (ten or fifteen of which were spent making a speech rather than performing).
The show was promoted as an ‘intimate set’ at l’Olympia club, which holds only 2,700 people. Tickets ranged in price from £60 to £200 and up, and were made available to members of the official Madonna fan club before they were sold to the public.
The show was broadcast live on YouTube, and concertgoers were encouraged to Tweet about the show using the hashtag #MDNAParis.
Unfortunately, this attempt to use social media to promote the show backfired for Madge and her team, as fans took to the Internet to voice their displeasure with the short show. Fans, some of whom camped outside the venue overnight in order to get good seats, flooded the hashtag and YouTube comments for the live stream with angry messages, demanding refunds and insulting the singer. Eventually, YouTube comments were disabled for the video.
What do you think? Did Madonna disrespect her fans by playing a short set and not returning for an encore?
