Bristol Palin Will Be on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ 2012
Dancing with the Stars is back for its fifteenth season this fall, and the cast (well, most of it) has been revealed. The all-star lineup is comprised of previous winners and runners-up, including Kirstie Alley, Drew Lachey, Shawn Johnson, and Melissa Rycroft. Oh, and Bristol Palin.
Bristol first competed on the show in season 11, and finished in third place despite widespread criticism of her dancing skills (as showcased in this somewhat painful video):
But, despite Palin’s sub-par dancing skills, ratings are ratings, and DWTS could certainly use some of those right now. In a meeting with the press on Friday, executive producer Conrad Green spoke candidly about the ratings dip the show has seen in recent seasons, attributing it in part to losing viewers to The Voice.
Bristol was a big ratings-draw in season 11 of DWTS (likely due to her popularity with right-wing fans of her mom, Sarah Palin), and ABC is probably counting on her to do the same for this one. Unfortunately for them, if the ratings of Bristol’s new reality TV show, Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp, are any indication, this may not be the case – the show had such dismal viewership, Lifetime moved it from primetime to late night.
So, we just have one question about Bristol’s participation in DWTS season fifteen: why is a girl who so publicly abhors the media exposing herself to even more media attention by appearing on the show?
“I just think that God provides opportunities like this, and you can either go out and do them or not do them,” explained Palin when asked that question at a press conference. “I figure the press will be talking about me, no matter what.”
