Jordyn Wieber Not Going to the Gymnastics All-Around, WTF?
It’s been a stunning upset for Team USA. Jordyn Wieber, Olympic favorite and current world champion, failed to qualify for the gymnastics all-around.
This pushed fans and fellow gymnasts to gasp, WTF?!
The 17-year-old gymnast was in tears after failing to qualify for the individual all-around title on Sunday. She avoided reporters after leaving the North Greenwich arena. Each country can only enter two gymnasts in the final. Teammates Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas scored highest, pushing the world champion into third place.
“My heart hurts,” said Bela Karolyi, the former Olympic coach. “I’m hurting inside. I am. To be honest, I’m afraid. The big anchor of the team is out. I don’t know how she’s going to respond.”
Wieber’s performance on the vault, uneven bars and beams, and floor routine were uncharacteristic of the 17-year-old Olympic favorite. Although, she was escorted off the mats in tears, it seems that she has composed herself after the stunning upset.

“Thank you all for your love and support,” Wieber tweeted later that Sunday. “I am so proud of our team today and I can’t wait for team finals!!”

It is certainly a disappointment for fans, but Wieber seems to have taken the upset in stride. Good luck Team USA!
