This is What Happens When You Let an Architect Cut Your Hair (PHOTOS)

While some of us are lucky and talented enough to be skilled at multiple endeavors, most folks are generally better off sticking to what they know. For example, gossip bloggers should focus on committing to memory every outfit Kate Middleton has ever worn and developing their ability to discern which Justin Bieber news is important and which is slightly less important, rather than making ill-advised forays into the emerging field of Avant-Garde Dentistry.

And, as these pictures prove, some architects should probably not quit their day jobs and become hairstylists.

It all started when a stylist named ‘GIJO’ challenged a group of Portuguese architects from the Berlin-based group FARH 021.3 to apply their architecture skills to the art of hairstyling.

Using everything from wire mesh to hair rulers to sculpt hair into the desired forms, the architects eventually came up with a series of strange, impractical, and sharply-angled hairstyles. The strange ‘hairchitectural’ styles were inspired by the Northern Portuguese city of Guimarães, as well as 60’s and 70’s fashion.
