Evelyn Lozada Files For Divorce From Chad Ochocinco After 41 Days and Domestic Dispute

Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce after just 41 days of being married to Chad (Johnson) Ochocinco, People Magazine reports. The filing follows a domestic dispute in which Chad, 34, allegedly head-butted Evelyn.

A source says their marriage is “irretrievably broken.” Chad was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence on Saturday; Evelyn was taken to the hospital and treated for a “pretty good-sized” laceration.

Chad, 34, released a statement about the incident on his website: “I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.

Evelyn also released a statement: “It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay, and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”

Evelyn and Chad were supposed to star in a VH1 reality show called Ev and Ocho, which has since been cancelled. Evelyn has also appeared on Basketball Wives, since she had a ten-year relationship with (and was once engaged to) NBA star Antoine Walker.

Tragically, Evelyn also just posted on her website that her brother-in-law Anthony Ochoa (her sister Sylvia’s husband) passed away on Monday.

Sending you happier thoughts, Evelyn!
