Kelly Ripa’s New “Live” Host is Michael Strahan
Kelly Ripa finally has a new co-host on Live: Michael Strahan. According to Broadcasting & Cable, the former NFL defensive player and sitcom star will permanently step into the role previously held by Regis Philbin. ABC is expected to make the official announcement in early September. (Kelly & Michael haven’t tweeted about the news, presumably because it’s not yet official.)
Since Regis left in late 2011, Kelly has been testing out guest hosts – including Strahan, SNL star Seth Meyers and others. Texas-born Strahan, 40, is expected to keep his current role with Fox NFL Sunday.
Michael clearly wanted the job; he gave it his all in the many times he guest-hosted Live, including dancing like Magic Mike in when Channing Tatum appeared on the show:

Michael has also appeared in commercials for Subway, Snickers, Dr. Pepper and Right Guard.
