Country singer Kellie Pickler shaved her head. But don’t worry, she isn’t pulling a Britney or going for a more risque look.
Pickler is showing solidarity for her longtime friend Summer Miller, 36, who’ll be undergoing chemotherapy in her fight against breast cancer. Pickler teased her Twitter followers with this message before the big reveal: “It’s been a great life-changing day.”
An hour later, she asked fans to catch her on Good Morning America: “Be sure to watch ‘Good Morning America’ tomorrow morning (Sept 5th). You won’t want to miss this!!! 
”
Pickler revealed her new shaved head on the show, and says she feels no apprehension about going under the shears. “It is hair and it will grow back,” writes the singer.
Her main goals were to support her friend and to bring awareness to early detection. “Cancer does not discriminate,” Pickler said. To which, Miller added: “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it.”
Miller, who is a mother of two, has a family history of breast cancer, and asked her doctor for a mammogram after she had an intuition that something was wrong. The doctors found a tumor and Miller underwent a double mastectomy. She has been declared cancer-free, but will begin chemotherapy to ensure her remission.
I think these two friends look fabulous.
