Katie Holmes Makes First Public Appearance Since Divorce at 2012 Style Awards
Katie Holmes made her first public appearance since divorcing Tom Cruise at the 2012 Style Awards, Celebuzz reports. Katie presented Carolina Herrera an award for Designer of the Year, wearing a black button-up shirt and black and gold knee-length skirt designed by Herrera.
The skirt is gorgeous, but the combination of the conservative outfit and her parted, pulled-back hair is a little dowdy. She looks a bit like a politician’s wife… someone give Katie a blowout! Also, some earrings would have been a nice addition.
Katie has officially laid low since first splitting from Tom back in July, but has been spotted out and about in Manhattan eating ice cream with and denying puppies to her six year-old daughter, Siri. She also looked smokin’ hot on the cover of Elle.
Perhaps Katie will get her own Style Award someday…she will present her new fashion line, Holmes & Yang, at New York’s Fashion week on Wednesday. She’s worked on the collection with Jeanne Yang, her former stylist turned business partner. In an interview with WWD, Katie said the line will be “very simple, with very classic lines. We use a lot of silks and leathers and suedes. This year, we’re excited because we’ve incorporated a lot of new trims. It’s basically pieces that have evolved from basics, but not too far. They’re just nice, well-made luxury items that highlight the woman wearing them.”
