The ‘Today Show’ Airs Kris Jenner Instead of 9/11

Ever since NBC’s Today Show unceremoniously gave Ann Curry the boot, it’s been quickly and steadily losing favor with viewers. But every time it seems like the Today Show can’t dig itself a deeper hole, it manages to do some new, stupid thing that makes everyone roll their eyes even harder.

Today, at 8:46 AM, much of the country (and many news outlets) was observing a moment of silence in honor of the lives lost during the attacks on the World Trade Center eleven years ago. The Today Show, on the other hand, was airing an interview of Samantha Guthrie and Kris Jenner discussing Kris’s decision to replace her breast implants.

“Change [your breast implants] after 10 years… it was so important, health-wise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it’s a health risk,” said Jenner as Americans silently remembered the tragedy that befell the nation in 2001.

People were, understandably, not happy. Twitter users expressed their disgust, declaring “shame on them” and calling the decision a “major fail”.

NBC disagreed with the criticisms, however, stating that while they did forgo the moment of silence, they did not forget about 9/11.

“The Today Show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show,” said a spokesperson for the program.

What do you think? Should the Today Show have observed the occasion with a moment of silence, or were they justified in airing the interview?
