Twitter Users Attack Kate Gosselin For Modeling For Charity
Kate Gosselin is trying to do something good for charity – but Twitter users still hate her. According to The Huffington Post, the former reality star will walk the runway at New York’s Fashion Week tonight as part of “Real Fashion, Real Women,” which benefits Bottomless Closet, an organization that helps disadvantaged women become self-sufficient.
“We reached out to Kate’s people, and they came back right away and said yes. She loved it,” said the show’s host and organizer, Derek Warburton. “Kate is so nice, sweet and accommodating and cool. She started writing us directly.”
“I’m SUPER excited 2 b a part of the Real Women/Real Fashion Show today!” Kate tweeted. “I love supporting causes that make a huge difference in womens lives!
But users on Twitter instantly started attacking Kate. “Kate’s a bad choice for hard working women, maybe”work her kids” woman, yes” tweeted one user. “kate’s pretending to be a model today like she does at everything else. LOL,” said another.
Warburton pointed out that Kate is not being paid for the event. “We have all been in Twitter wars about Kate,” he said. “They were attacking us for having her in the show. I responded saying, ‘Listen, we are not paying her. She is doing this out of the goodness of her heart.’ What’s remarkable is every time we get a nasty tweet about Kate, she writes and apologizes. She doesn’t care about the haters, but she cares about us, the charity. She must have apologized to me five times for what people say about her.”
Look, I’m not a huge fan of Kate either – but if she’s donating her time for charity, how can we criticize that? Stop tweeting hate and go donate to Bottomless Closet instead.
