X FACTOR PREMIERE: Britney Spears Is the New Simon Cowell, Makes an Old Friend Cry
I don’t mean that in a bad way. Britney is AWESOME on the X Factor USA. She and Simon Cowell should vow to be best friends forever. (LA Reid and Demi Lovato join them at the judges’ table.)
We’ve all been with Britney through the good and bad. From her first pigtailed, school-girl-uniform-donning music video to her skin-tight orange jumpsuit, her relationship with Justin Timberlake to her trying to hurt someone with an umbrella, unexpectedly shaving her head during a meltdown, her marriage with K.Fed and the birth of her two baby boys – we’ve basically grew up with Britney!
And now we get to see her comeback judging all the horrible, mediocre, tone-deaf and amazing singers of America.
She seemed pretty calloused during all the rejections save for one instance – when an old friend came on stage. He apparently used to record with her in the studio ten years ago. Very profuse and emotional, he informed the judges that “it’s his chance now” and proceeded to belt out some tunes. Unfortunately, none of the tunes were in tune. All four judges, including Brit, who looked heartbroken, said no.
Other than that, the rest of the show was entertaining.
