Chad Johnson Charged with Battery, Pleads Not Guilty

The law has spoken regarding an incident in which Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson allegedly head-butted his wife, Evelyn Lozada, during an argument. Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery.

A new report from TMZ states that Johnson’s attorney entered a not-guilty plea this morning. If convicted, the disgraced former NFL star could face up to a year in jail.

The alleged head-butting incident occurred on August 11th. According to the police report, Lozada claims that the two got into a heated argument after she found a receipt for condoms in his car – presumably condoms that weren’t intended for her. Lozada told police that during this argument, Johnson head-butted her in the face. She received stitches for a gash she sustained on her forehead.

The two had only been married for a month when the incident occurred. Lozada filed for divorce shortly after, though Johnson has been resisting the idea at every turn, seemingly holding on to hope that his wife will change her mind. The former football player has gone as far as to tattoo his wife’s face on his leg, get photographed wearing t-shirts that say ‘I JUST WANT TO LOVE YOU’, and refuse to sign divorce papers.

Johnson is due back in court on October 31st.
