LMFAO Breaks Up; Future of Party Rocking in Danger?
Bad news for party rockers: LMFAO is breaking up. According to News.com/au, Redfoo says he’s taking time off from the pop group to puruse other interests, like tennis and fashion.
“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” explained Redfoo, 37. He and his nephew, Sky Blu, have been collaborating on pop anthems like “Sexy and I Know It” and “Party Rock Anthem” since 2006, but are now headed in different directions. “I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” he said. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”
Redfoo has been coaching tennis player Ayaka Okuno; he also plans to launch a tennis clothing line and will sponsor the United States Tennis Association’s Party Rock Open in Las Vegas on Sunday. He’s also performed on the USA Gymnastics tour, and is in the process of writing a song for the New England Patriots. Redfoo says his solo songs will be in the same vein as LMFAO hits.
