Kelly Osbourne Half-Heartedly Apologizes for $250,000 Manicure (PHOTOS)

It’s no secret that since the recession, a fair portion of the population has been struggling with layoffs, poor job prospects, and low pay. Meanwhile, the wealthy have been getting wealthier, and the growing wealth gap has been getting a lot of publicity. It therefore follows that in this sociopolitical climate, excessive and unnecessary displays of wealth are met with negative reactions by the majority of the population.

So last week, when Kelly Osbourne went to the Emmy Awards rocking a manicure supposedly worth $250,000, many people were not exactly impressed.

The polish used in the manicure is made by Azature and contains 267 carats of black diamonds. It’s the most expensive nail polish in the world, although it looks no different than something one might find at a drug store.

“About to get a $250k manicure w nail polish made w blk diamonds made by @azature so excited & honored,” Osbourne Tweeted before hitting the red carpet.

Outraged fans began to respond, questioning the propriety of bragging about getting a manicure that costs a quarter of a million dollars in an economy in which many are struggling financially.

But don’t worry, you guys, because Kelly didn’t actually pay for the manicure. And also she’s sorry that you were offended.

”I see that my nail polish has offended some of you, however I see your point, but it was a once in a lifetime experience. #MyApologizes [sic]” she Tweeted in response to the outrage. “And please forgive me for not regretting it. it made me feel like a queen!”

So that makes it better, I guess.

What do you think? Is a $250,000 manicure excessive? Are people right to be upset over such a flagrant display of excessive (and some would argue, undeserved) wealth? Let us know in the comments.
