Popinator: The Fun Snack Machine for Lazy People (VIDEO)
I know what you’re thinking: I love popcorn, but why do I have to use my hands to eat these delicious butter-soaked kernels? If only I could eat popcorn hands free. If only.
Popcorn lovers, be weary no more. Science has come to the rescue with the snack launching prowess of Popinator. This machine can launch a kernel with the mere utterance of “pop.” The Popinator uses a voice activated launching system. Underlying this mechanism is a microphone system that’s similar to human hearing. Science.
It’s able to calculate the sound waves in order to figure out where the “pop” sound came from. Once the originating sound is located, the sweet kernel is launched. Then it’s game on. Although the system is pretty accurate, you might have to do a big of wiggling to capture that kernel.
Look at the advantages: you’re playing a video game (as one Popinator advocate narrates) and you need that sweet, sweet popcorn. Don’t put that controller down; just say “pop.” You’re in the midst of an important phone call and that snack is just out of reach. “Pop.” You’re performing open heart surgery and you feel a bit peckish. “Pop.”
The Popinator Project is the brainchild of popcorn makers at Popcorn Indiana. They wanted to make popcorn eating a bit more fun. Mission accomplished. Bonus feature: It can launch a kernel up to 15 feet.
