Justin Bieber Is Cousins With Ryan Gosling, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion
Hey girl…you know my cousin Justin? According to Us Weekly, all famous Canadians are related. Genealogists at Ancestry.com have just discovered that Justin Bieber is a distant cousin of Ryan Gosling, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion.
Apparently, all three stars have connections to settlers who came to Quebec 400 years ago. “The great thing about family history is that you never know what you’re going to find,” said Michelle Ercanback, a researcher with Ancestry.com. “It was a very pleasant surprise.”
Bieber is currently back in his home country of Canada for his Believe tour. “feels good,” he tweeted. “#CANADA!!!! timmy ho’s anyone??

Bieber and Gosling 11th cousins once removed; Bieber and Lavigne are 12th cousins; Bieber and Dion are 10th cousins three times removed. Still, Ercanback says that there’s no evidence of a “superstar gene” giving these people their singing talent (remember that Gosling sang on the Mickey Mouse Club as a kid).
