Window Washers Dress Up as Superheroes to Cheer Up Sick Kids

Being in a hospital can be a real pain for anyone, especially kids who just want to go out and play. And what would be the best medicine for ailing kids? A visit from their favorite superheroes. But there’s a twist: these superheroes are flying out of the sky to say “Hello.”

Window washing companies like American National Skyline and Allegney Window Cleaning Inc. have cheered up young hospital patients with their sky-high heroics.

Kids from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg were elated to see Spiderman, Captain America, and Batman scaling heroically down the sides of their hospital.

The idea came from Steve Osaniec, who’s been employed with ANS for the past 23 years. ”The kids always come up to the window and ask us, ‘Are you Spiderman?’” says Osaniec. “So I came up with the idea of, ‘Why don’t we just show up as Spiderman?” Osaniec, his son Donny Oszaniec, and their fellow coworker Jordan Emerson donned some superhero costumes on Oct. 17.

This week, Allegney Window Cleaning employees Rick Bollinger, Mark Errico, Ed Hetrick, and Jim Zaremba also took to the skies. “The kids were loving it,” said Errico. “Everywhere we went, they were coming in from different rooms.”

Washing windows is hard enough, but doing it with a mask on can’t be easy. This was definitely a “win” on the part of these warm-hearted gents.
