These ‘Fabric’ Items Are Actually Mind-Blowing Wood Carvings
Look at this bag. Doesn’t it look soft and worn? Can you imagine yourself wearing it, storing your books in it or using it as a makeshift back rest when you’re out and about?
Well, you couldn’t do any of those things with this bag — because it’s not a bag at all. It’s an incredibly intricate woodcarving by Taiwanese artist Mary Leu. Would you believe that all these items, which look so soft and fluid, are actually carved from wood?
According to DesignBoom, woodcarving is traditionally a pastime of men in Taiwan. But Leu, with her insanely detailed pieces that can only be fully appreciated with the help of a microscope, is breaking both gender stereotypes and our brains. Amazing.
