7 Awesome Fourth of July Recipes

Heading to a barbecue or picnic this Fourth of July? Impress your friends and relatives with some patriotic and delicious eats! Whether you’re a classic strawberries-and-blueberries-with-whipped cream American or a modern check-out-this-fancy-salad chick, we’ve found 7 awesome recipes that will be making your mouth water ’til Labor Day.

Blue Corn Chips with Red & White Dipping Sauces

What’s that? You want to be clever and patriotic in the kitchen without expending too much effort effort? I’m loving the idea of pairing blue corn chips with red and white dipping sauces, like this July 4th recipe from the Food Network that features Red Pepper Salsa and Creamy Garlic Lime Dip. If you’re an overachiever, you can make these dippers from scratch in just 20 minutes, but we’ve got a tip: you can buy salsa and some kind of white dip at the story when you buy the chips! Just sayin.

Grilled Peaches with Honey Cream

Forget your aunt’s boring old fruit salad. Grill some peaches and serve them with raspberries for an unexpected and healthy dessert! Cooking Light‘s Grilled Peaches with Honey Cream can actually be made with apricots or nectarines instead of peaches, so you can buy whatever looks best (or is cheapest!) at your local grocery store. Even better: this quick recipe will only take you about 10 minutes, so you can get to the fun part: eating.

Grilled Corn on the Cob

Okay, so maybe you won’t be the first grill master to make corn on the cob – but have you tried the methods of Food Network celeb chef Bobby Flay? His unique corn on the cob recipe with herb butter and BBQ butter will put all other corn cobs to shame! It’s a fun spin on a classic staple of July 4th – and classic is good. Just ask sparklers.

Red, White and Blue Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

The Patriotic Treats Pinterest Page from Operation We Are Here offers endless inspiration for red, white and blue desserts – but I’m particularly taken with the Fourth of July Strawberries from The Frugal Girls. All you need are fresh strawberries, a package of white baking chips, blue sugar sprinkles and wax paper. You can also melt the chocolate in your microwave (these ladies really understand my style).

Strawberry and Blueberry Cheesecake

Looking for a fresh spin on the Fourth of July Flag Cake? Make it a cheesecake with strawberries and blueberries in the shape of a star! Momma’s Fun World suggests that Jell-O No-Bake cheesecakes are the perfect kitchen projects to work on with kids – but as a kid at heart, I think making this patriotic star cake would be fun for adults too. Plus, this July 4th  cheesecake is versatile; purchase a pre-made graham cracker crust or get your scratch baking on.

Grilled Zucchini and Grape Tomato Salad

Healthy ladies, I didn’t forget about you! Every Fourth of July gathering needs a salad – so why not make it a memorable one? This Grilled Zucchini and Grape Tomato Salad from TheKitchn is pretty AND delicious, full of zesty summer flavors. Fresh herbs like chives, sage, basil, summery savory and oregano will also make this a summer salad to remember!

Healthy Potato Salad

July 4th traditionalists will demand to devour potato salad – but the dish isn’t exactly known for being healthy. To please everybody at your party, check out Good Housekeeping’s Healthy Potato Salad, which has been triple-tested at the Good Housekeeping Institute. By using light (not fat free) mayo and buttermilk instead of whole milk, you can create a healthy, delicious potato salad that isn’t gloppy. Even better news: It’ll only take 35 minutes to prepare!
