It’s Monday morning, you overslept and your hair is in need of a major wash — but there’s no time. Don’t panic! Dry shampoo has got you covered.

If you haven’t tried this increasingly popular beauty aid, you don’t know what you’re missing. Dry shampoo is a hair care product that can be used between washes to remove oil and dirt and give your hair that washed look – without water.

Washing your hair every day can dry out your scalp and strip your hair of its natural oils, but skipping a shampoo can be a scary thought. Depending on your hair type, a day without washing can result in a greasy mess.

That’s where dry shampoo steps in. It absorbs the oil that makes your hair look greasy but doesn’t use water, which, ironically, is what dries your hair out.

Dry shampoo is easy to use. Just spray (or sprinkle the powder versions) on your roots, making sure to hold the spray at least six inches away from your scalp so it doesn’t leave a residue. Allow it to set for a couple of minutes, then brush it through. You’re done!

Dry shampoo is safe for all types of hair, and helps keep your look for days after leaving the salon. It’s perfect when you’re in a rush and works great for on-the-go touchups, but it’s not meant to replace your usual shampoo.

So next time you’re in a pinch and wearing a ponytail isn’t an option, grab a bottle of dry shampoo and give your hair a boost.
