Before you start crying over the loss of celebrity interviews, cool products and inspiring stories, though, remember that she’s starting up her own cable network, OWN, which will launch in 2011. She hasn’t announced if she’ll host a new talk show there, but she’s expected to have a major presence on the network. 

“We have the greatest respect for Oprah and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors,” “Oprah” distributor CBS said in a statement. “We know that anything she turns her hand to will be a great success. We look forward to working with her for the next several years and hopefully afterwards as well.”

Insiders said new episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show won’t be moving to OWN, but Winfrey will have a daily presence on the channel via series and specials or promos. And OWN will have the rights to the entire 25-year Oprah Winfrey Show catalog beginning in September 2011, so they could rerun the episodes.

But will specials, promos and reruns be enough to whet our Oprah appetite? Personally, I’ve never really watched her show, so what do you guys think? Should Oprah continue hosting a talk show, or is the world sick of her?

I was not one of the original Twi-hards that helped Summit Entertainment make $70.5 million during the opening weekend of Catherine Hardwicke’s “Twilight,” movie that was based on Stephanie Meyer’s beloved book series. Instead, I came home one Friday night after a long night of vodka tonics and proceeded to watch the “Twilight,” DVD about five times in a row. No, I’m not kidding.

Was it the haunting stares between Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart,) as well as the gorgeously thick sexual tension between the two photogenic teenagers? Or was it the fact that their unrequited love represents that one person(s) in your life that you knew that you could never have even if those feelings were present?

In “New Moon,” director Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass) takes the rein and focuses on the story between emotionally broken Bella and the suddenly uber-buff Jacob (Taylor Lautner) who has his own hairy secret that he’s keeping from his lady love. While watching the scene in which brooding Edward breaks up with Bella, seemingly for good, my own heart stopped a bit as I remembered what it was like when my own first true relationship crumbled. You know, that one that had you dreaming about weddings, happiness, and eternal bliss. And then the world came crashing down.

Jacob is the nice guy who nurses Bella back to health by being her friend, even though he wants more. And each time Bella rebuffed him, I wanted to shake her and say, “Why don’t you just go for the guy who doesn’t screw you over…even if you’re obsessed with Edward. I get that he’s hot, sultry, and eternally 17, but Jacob saved your life, cared for you when Edward left you in the forest, and will do anything for you.”

The movie delves into what happens when you allow your love for another person to become greater than yourself or your own self-worth. And what if the love of your life breaks your heart — does time stop or do you just stop living? It’s 2010 and our heroine, Bella Swan, is seemingly pulled in various directions by the whims of either Edward or Jacob. I kept rooting for her to be pro-active and make the right choice and choose the guy who would be good to her instead of the one who kept breaking her heart. I’m not blaming her character, but when she finally got the chance to make a pro-active decision that would bring her closer to her ultimate love, Bella didn’t even make him work for an apology. It was as if all those months of heartache had never happened.

Is this what we all do in love and relationships for that one person that we’re crazy for? No matter how much they stamp on your heart or break promises, you take them back … just because. I guess that’s the eternal wonder, mystery, and frightening power about that thing called love.

No matter what you may think about love, I’m pretty sure that you’ll enjoy this movie, especially if you’re into love triangles between vampires and werewolves.

Dun dun dun….Nicole Fox! According to E! Online, the pale redheaded 18-year-old from Colorado won the honor, which also includes a contract with Wilhelmina Models, a six-page Seventeen spread and cover, and a $100,000 deal with CoverGirl cosmetics. When she found out she had won, Nicole burst into tears. “I’m a dork and I’m America’s Next Top Model!” she exclaimed. Check out the video:

“This journey was incredibly hard,” Nicole said. “I had to learn to embarrass myself—and to speak, which was a struggle. Sometimes I didn’t think I was going to survive the journey. Like, I remember during casting week I went home and I cried because I was like, ‘What have I gotten myself into? I can’t deal with this.’ And I didn’t think it would be OK to be that dorky girl.” Hmm… maybe we have different definitions of dorky. Sure, she sometimes wears glasses — but come on, she’s stunning!

Disappointed runner-up Laura Kirkpatrick (whose Kentucky accent I will NOT miss) sobbed into Tyra’s arms. “You go out there, and continue to do that beautiful thing that Laura does,” Tyra said.

“I decided this year to take charge of my health, and get back on the ice after five years,” Scott told Fox New York. ”It’s taken 12 months to get to this point but I’m a work in progress. Onward and upward. If you don’t ask your body to do something, you’ll never get an answer.” Check out the entire interview:

Scott will skate alongside fellow cancer survivor Dorothy Hammill, as well as Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan. The special is intended to inspire viewers to triumph over illness. “It’s about using entertainment to get the word out about cancer and awareness,” Scott said. “This one is mostly about women’s cancers.”

Olivia Newton John will also perform. “The cast is incredible, the show is beautiful,” he said. “What a thrill to be back in front of an audience.” You go, Scott! Keep skating!

 ”I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen with it,” he said. Robert also insisted that despite his mega fame, he feels exactly the same as he always has. “I speak in an American accent when I’m talking to crowds, because it’s so separate to my actual life. I still feel like I’m kind of acting. I think that’s the way so I don’t go completely mad.” Shockingly, he said that he was going to quit acting the day before his Twilight audition because he never got any jobs!

Robert insists he doesn’t mind that he has less screen time in New Moon, which comes out tonight at midnight. “I always liked this book,” he said. “I always thought it was the most complex, especially for Edward’s character. The more in love with someone you fall, the more you lose control of the relationship and kind of attack and destroy it. I always thought that was interesting.”

As usual, he skirted the question about whether he’s dating Kristen Stewart. Let’s hope the fans don’t attack and destroy their beloved Robert.

“It’s about weight loss, it’s not about being The Biggest Loser for me. It’s about getting my life back.” That’s the thing about The Biggest Loser; as much the monetary prize is a significant motivator, all of the contestants who are able to lose weight and become healthier really do win. Personally, I think the show would be a lot more entertaining if they spent more time on challenges and exercise and nutrition and less time with all the crying about who gets voted off each week.

Although Rebecca was initially very upset about being voted off the show, she channeled her anger into a very successful home program. Rebecca went from 304 pounds to 157, and now she’s rocking a teeny waist and seriously defined legs and arms.

She said she has always struggled with her weight, even as a child. To all her tormentors in high school, she says: “What up now!”

You go, Rebecca! You’re my idol.

Random tidbit: I wish I had seen Steamboat Willie since I once appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and I had to use my “ask the audience lifeline” to find out about it! Fortunately, the audience was, apparently, filled with 1920s cartoon buffs. Check out the famous cartoon:

If you’re near San Francisco, you can celebrate with a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum. It includes galleries of the earliest known drawings of Mickey Mouse, vintage Mickey merchandise, an interactive station that demonstrates how sound is synchronized to animation, and much more. The Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Monday.

Wal Mart also has a huge array of Mickey Mouse items at Black Friday prices, from tricycles to DVDs to bedding. Toys R Us also has a nice selection of Mickey stuff. Finally, The Disney Store features Mickey items for both kids and adults, including collectible ornaments, figurines and art.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Gossip Girl is known for its interesting musical selections. Lily’s and Rufus’ wedding included a performance from Sonic Youth, season one’s Cotillion episode featured The Pierces’ “Secret,” and another recent ep featured a kickass cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” by Anya Marina. Lady Gaga added her song “Bad Romance” into the mix last night, as part of Blair’s plot to get the artsy Tisch students to like her by bringing a pop star to NYU to perform.

Gaga rocked her usual voluminous platinum ‘do and a giant red gown that dancers held out around her like a sea of blood (or something).  Check out the video:

What do you guys think? If you’re already a Gaga fan, you know that her wacky outfit and performance were pretty standard. I did like that the song’s lyric “I want your love” fit in thematically with the Dan-Olivia-Vanessa love triangle. (FYI, Olivia pretty much dumped Dan for kissing Vanessa like he never kissed her during their threesome.) Silly Dan. You know you’ve let things go too far when Lady Gaga is the soundtrack to your love life.

I would imagine that Westwood is still recovering from its recent vampire infestation; New Moonpremiered last night, surrounded by a frenzy of glammed-up celebs, dizzying flashbulbs and screaming fans.

The often strangely dressed Kristen Stewart looked stunning in a silvery Oscar de la Renta gown, while Robert Pattinson rocked a trim Gucci suit. The LA Times has some great photos, and here’s E Online’s gallery, which includes some juicy interviews that will air tonight at 7:30 pm as part of their Live From the Red Carpet: New Moon special. When asked if he has some sort of plan to relax after all the pandemonium, Robert said, “I don’t really have one. Just not waking up early in the morning. I am so not a morning person. I don’t handle it well at all.” I guess that whole can’t-be-out-in-sunlight thing isn’t such a problem for him.

Kristen said that the hysteria wasn’t actually as bad as she imagined. “I was actually able to get really excited because I was prepped for how crazy it was gonna be, and it’s not as crazy as everybody said it was gonna be. As an actor, you don’t get the opportunity to share what you love with so many people. This will never happen to me again.”

Hmm – the movie studio and millions of adoring fans may have something to say about that!

While Urban Dictionary supplies a couple meanings for Twilf, the new phrase might be a little less about sex and more about following our favorite Alaskan GILF (Governor no longer applies, so it’s just grandma) on Twitter. The cartoon also shows Palin at her computer with her Twitter user name as “GUN-HO.”

The cartoon, “A Stupid Virus,” is a spoof of some people’s obsession with President Barack Obama’s identity and whether or not he is truly a citizen of the United States of America. It pokes fun at Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and other right-wing figures. Palin tweets that “Barack Obama is the anti-christ.” Brian Williams is also featured, saying “Sarah Palin twittered…that’s right, tweets are now news,” with Palin’s image and the word “twilf?” in the upper right hand part of the screen.

It’s a cute video, but unfortunately it’s making this woman even more popular. Her highly anticipated interview with Oprah will air today, and her book has already become a bestseller before hitting shelves.

Aysha M and myself went to the West Hollywood Halloween parade and, to say the least, it was quite interesting to see this year’s top pop culture “celebrities,” out and about. There were many “Balloon boys,” as well as “Octomom’s,” and though we didn’t find a “Jon and Kate,” I’m pretty sure there were many of those there as well. Maybe they were hiding behind their kids? “That’s a great question because it’s lovely to even think he would even consider such a thing,” Palin said. “Because of course he is a part of the family. … He needs to know he is loved. …This can all work out for good, it really can. We don’t have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama.”

Oprah then asked what we were all thinking: “Does that mean yes, he is coming, or no he’s not?” Of course, you’ll have to wait til Monday to see the answer.

Oprah also asked Sarah about her infamously bad interview with Katie Couric. Does she think it was a defining moment? “I did not, and neither did the campaign,” Sarah said. “The campaign said, ‘Right on. Good. You’re showing your independence. This is what America needs to see. This was a good interview.’ And I’m thinking, ‘If you thought that was a good interview, I don’t know what a bad interview is.’ Because I knew it wasn’t a good interview.”

Here’s my question: why do we need more interviews with Sarah Palin? She’s not a politician anymore. What is she?

According to CBS2 Chicago, Nash says that even though she is blind and has to eat through a straw, she isn’t angry. “I don’t even think about it,” she said. ”And there’s no time for that anyways because I need to heal, you know, not look backwards.”

Oprah removed Nash’s hat and veil to reveal her face, which was swollen and damaged beyond recognition. She has a large scar near the bottom of her face and a large piece of skin where her nose had been. Parts of her limbs are also gone.

Nash was attacked in February, when the animal’s owner, Sandra Herold, asked Nash, her friend and employee, to help lure the animal back into her house in Stamford, Connecticut. After the attack, police shot and killed the animal, but Nash has been hospitalized since, however, remaining in stable condition.

Nash’s family has filed a $50 million lawsuit against Herold, saying she was negligent and reckless for lacking the ability to control “a wild animal with violent propensities.” They are also in the process of trying to sue the state of Connecticut for $150 million.

With this in mind, and after a Pennsylvania woman was killed by a bear last month, I really wonder why we don’t have stricter laws protecting us from dangerous animals.

“Everything that was discussed in mediation is completely confidential. I’m not gonna be able to talk about that,” she insisted, smiling through her annoyance.

Of course, that wasn’t good enough for Larry. “You can’t even say why you settled?” he asked. We all know that he’s trying to get her to say that she settled because the pageant found a tawdry video of her sexy solo act, which doesn’t quite help her “poor conservative me” image.

“Larry, you’re being inappropriate,” she insisted. “You really are.” Ahh, I feel awkward just watching these two. He kept at her, suggesting that it’s ridiculous to say that WHY someone settles would be included in the settlement itself.

As Larry finally moved on and took a call from a gay man asking what Carrie’s advice would be to a gay person who wanted to get married, she took off her microphone, stopping the interview. What do you guys think? It seems crazy that she would throw a temper tantrum and refuse to continue. Where’s her publicist?

The 48-year-old Scottish sensation looked thrilled to be back in the spotlight again, glowing in her floor-length black gown and simple necklace. The crowd cheered as Tony Dovolani and Chelsie Hightower gracefully danced to the song.

Boyle seems much more rested since she decided to check herself into the Priory clinic after losing to dance act Diversity on Britain’s Got Talent. “Everything had built up and I was exhausted,” she told Britain’s Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine. “You have to understand, my life ceased to be normal when Britain’s Got Talent went live. There were a lot of press people outside my door, a lot of television people, a lot of people who wanted a piece of me. I thought, ‘God, what’s happening here. I’m a reasonable singer, but I never expected that.’” Boyle’s new album will hit stores November 23, and her fans are hoping she’ll feel rested enough to tour at some point.

Meanwhile, Aaron Carter got booted from Dancing with the Stars last night, meaning that Kelly Osbourne gets to stay. Go Kelly! I want to see you win!

But before I had to even think about doing a search, this little news item showed up on my beloved Perez Hilton. It seems that one of the show’s numbers involved the voice of Lois, Alex Borstein, singing Lady Gaga’s Poker Face as though she were Marlee Matlin.

Now, not only am I a big Family Guy defender, but a HUGE supporter too. I absolutely love the show, and as such know that their stock and trade is making ruthless fun of anyone and everything. A right which I will defend to the death, and happen to think they do well enough so as to be viciously funny.

However, for me, this one went too far. My cousin is deaf. She is also beautiful, brilliant, and a lot of other things. But knowing how hard being deaf has made things for her — emotionally if nothing else — I have zero tolerance for jokes that trade in making fun of things like the “deaf accent.”

Fortunately, they saved their skin, though. Marlee Matlin herself came out on stage (obviously planned) and then started yelling at Alex, making fun of her, calling her fat and giving her the finger before flamboyantly storming off. It once again showed the accuracy of Seth MacFarlane’s (and the rest of The Family Guy crew’s) humor — that to get away with a joke like that, you have to turn the gun at yourself. I never should have doubted.

Too bad it wasn’t Taylor who brought the funny to the sketch though. She was adorable, but couldn’t really compete with SNL regulars Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen (hilarious as Joy Behar) and Kenan Thompson (as, who else, Whoopi Goldberg). Looks like SNL needs to get some more ladies on the cast! But, back to Taylor’s performance. Her lines were certainly limited, perhaps a strategic choice, but she got some laughs for her Kate impersonation. She certainly rocked the hair-do, that’s for sure! And made an attempt at Kate’s punchy tough-mommy talk.

I think the adorable factor carried her through many of the skits, though, including this one. She’s just too sweet to criticize. Plus, she’s a singer, not an actor, so to rip into her would be a tad mean. After all, she was pulling double-duty that night as both host and musical guest. So, while her Kate impersonation wasn’t spot-on, it was still a pretty good attempt.

And, think about it, she’s 19-years-old and had to sit next to Andy Samberg (who played a broke Nicolas Cage in The View sketch), who she mentioned in her opening monologue, was one of the reasons she would stay up late to watch the show. She was probably nervous sitting next to her childhood crush. I know I would be. Andy Samberg is a total babe.

“It was me by myself, there was no one else with me, I was not having sex,” Prejan said of the infamous tape, which she made when she was 17-years-old. “I sent it to my boyfriend at the time. I was a teenager. I cared about him, I trusted him.” Though she downplayed the tape’s salacious nature, she did admit it was “the biggest mistake of her life” and that “young people can learn from this.” 

“The main point is that there has been a campaign against me to try and silence me for the past seven months,” she continued. Prejan has published a new book in an attempt to break that silence; Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate and Political Attacks which hit bookshelves yesterday. “Americans believe that their beliefs are under attack, and this is proof,” she said.

Although I don’t agree with Prejan’s opinions about gay marriage, the majority of Californians do, as evidenced by the passing of Proposition 8 last year. However, Prejan’s situation seems to be no longer about gay marriage, but about free speech.

She also grabbed her trusty acoustic guitar and sang a cute little “Monologue Song” about how she wouldn’t mention all the gossip-worthy topics we expected: her douchey ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, her possible Twilight boyfriend Taylor Lautner, and her VMA nemesis Kanye West. Take a look:

(For the record, she sang, ”If you’re wondering if I might be dating the werewolf from Twilight…” and then stopped to wave at the camera, mouth, “Hi, Taylor,” wink and blow a kiss. What do you guys think? Practically confirmation, right? For her sake, I hope he’s more gentlemanly than Joe Jonas. He’s definitely hotter!)

Other highlights from the show included Taylor playing our fave blond octomom Kate Gosselin in a funny parody segment of The View. What do you gals think? Does Taylor have comedy chops? Or should she stick to the ditties about cheerleaders and boys?

The supposed lovers aren’t exchanging any more pillow talk: “That woman played me for stupid, and I can prove it,” Jasmin says. I think it’s interesting that HE is the one who secretly recorded the tapes that somehow found their way to NBC News. Is he the mastermind behind all this, using Quinn as a pawn?

At one point on the tape, Quinn says, “That’s why I’m starting to feel like the sinister one doing this to my family.” So did she get caught in Jasmin’s web? Or did she try to play him, as he maintains? Quinn’s lawyers say she was suffering from an untreated, undiagnosed bipolar disorder…which seems a bit convenient and impossible to prove. “I was just doing what I was told to do,” Quinn claims.

Somehow, Reid Gray is standing behind his wife after all this. ”I believe in all my heart she was kidnapped,” he said. “I also believe that at some point, she believed she needed to be a part of this. It’s devastating, but I am standing behind her now because I believe she has a mental illness and that’s why we are here.”

Seriously? It always baffles me when people think sex on TV is so horrible — especially when studies have shown that watching violence is much more damaging to kids. And it’s network television…it’s not like they’re actually going to show much of anything (it’s times like these when I wished I lived in Europe). Sure, I think TV sometimes glosses over the consequences of sex, but let’s all remember that sex is what got us to this planet in the first place.

The funny thing is, while Gossip Girl ruffles parental feathers, it doesn’t arouse a whole lot of Nielsen boxes. Last week, the show ranked 104th, finishing between a telenovela and a Spanish-language talk show. It’s doubtful that this episode will result in a whole lot of teen threesomes when there aren’t really all that many teens even watching! GG isn’t trying to teach kids how to be porn stars…it’s trying to save itself.

Let’s talk about the real issue here, though, who are going to be the scandalous participants? Chuck, Blair and Serena? Dan, Olivia and Vanessa? The titillating promo offers several possibilities:

The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival last January and has been gaining buzz ever since. If you’re dying to see this intense drama, it’s playing in several theaters in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Atlanta. Check out the locations at Fandango.

Have any of you guys read the book? Are you planning to see the movie? I admit I want to see it. It stars Mo’Nique, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and, of course, newcomer Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe as the title character. The New York Times calls it, “A hybrid, a mash-up that might have been ungainly, but that manages to be graceful instead.” And you know they rarely like anything.

Director Lee Daniels recently told The Onion he had to do this film because, “it was just raw and honest, and the characters were so rich and fresh and new. Shit like we don’t normally see. Shit like I don’t see. We’ve got to see this, we have to know this.”
